Water Conservation

Hello Teachers & Students!

The West Kern Water District is pleased to provide this water education lesson that promotes the
awareness, knowledge, and conservation of water resources. The lesson includes the video, Bringing
Water into the Classroom, which introduces students to local water sources and water conservation. It
also includes the character-based ebook, Miss Betty Bee Has the BUZZ on Water Conservation, an
animated story that reinforces the importance of water conservation.

Prizes will be given to the top 3 winners:

First Place = $300 Gift Certificate to GW School Supply & Cookie Party
Second Place = $250 Gift Certificate to GW School Supply
Third Place = $200 Gift Certificate to GW School Supply

Suggested Steps:

1. Watch the video, Bringing Water into the Classroom, which explores local water sources and water conservation.
2. Review with students local water sources and how water is used in homes, at school, and to make the items we use every day.
3. Close the lesson with a review of the water conservation tips introduced on the classroom poster and discuss the importance of water conservation.
4. As a follow-up activity, the students can read the e-book, Miss Betty Bee Has the BUZZ on Water Conservation.
5. Once your class has completed the activities, please complete the Google Form. This form enters your class into the drawing.
