On December 16, 2024 local Groundwater Sustainability Agencies in the Kern Subbasin (including West Kern Water District) submitted a final Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) to the State Water Resources Control Board (State Board) for review. The GSP addresses comments in a July 2024 State Board Staff Report based upon review of a Kern Subbasin draft GSP submitted to State Board in May 2024. Addressing said comments has required considerable time and effort over the last 5 months by local GSAs, their technical consultants and policymakers.
